Neila Devi (born in August 1941) is a member of a Royal family in India. She is the wife of the actor late Shammi Kapoor. She is the one who helped his husband in the most painful time of his life. The lady dedicated all his to nurture Kapoor’s kids from his first wife Geeta Bali. She was a fan of a superstar who later became the wife of the very same superstar.
Recently on 30th April her nephew Rishi Kapoor died after fighting with blood cancer. The whole Bollywood is in grief after his demise. The actor was suffering from leukaemia from the past 2 years and went for treatment for New York, USA.
Childhood, Parents, Siblings & Education
Neila Devi is from the royal family of Bhavnagar, Gujarat, India. She took birth there in the month of August in the year 1941 (age 78 years; as in 2019).
Her family has ruled Bhavnagar for years before it became the part of India in 1948. At present, the Prince of the place is Jaiveerraj Singh. Her father was a retired military officer.
Devi has a pair of siblings which includes a brother and a sister. We do not know the name of her elder sister but we have found that Neila’s brother Raghuvir Singh used to be a good friend of Shammi Kapoor.
Shammi Kapoor’s spouse is quite well educated as it is mandatory for the royal members to attain the best possible education.

In the year 1969 on 27th January Neila Devi married her husband Shammi Kapoor. Before her, the man was married to another woman named Geeta Bali. She was also an actress but in 1965 she died of small-pox. Geeta and Kapoor even have two kids named Kanchan and Aditya Raj Kapoor.
Shammi and his second wife have no kids together. She dedicated her whole for the care of her husband and his kids. She treated Shammi’s children just like her own and never discriminated. She is the one who settled his life and brought him to the right track.
Kapoor was suffering from liver failure because of his bad habit of drinking. In 2011 on 7 August he suffered kidney failure which is why he got admitted to Breach Candy Hospital. He remained on a ventilator and died on 14th August.
How Neila Devi met Shammi Kapoor?
The love story of the couple is quite fascinating. She was 27 years old and Shammi was in Bhavnagar for some shooting. There he received a call from his sister-in-lam (Raj Kapoor’s wife), she asked him to meet her at lunch net day.
On the other day, Krishna told Shammi that there is a girl who is a perfect match for him and she also advised him that it is the time for him to settle down as his kids are growing and they need a mother.
The actor said that he will think about this. A few days later Kapoor came back home after spending his days with friends. After reaching home he felt an emptiness in his life.
That very day at 11 PM he called Neila and told her that he wants to talk to her to which she agreed. Shammi told her everything about his life which includes his partners, relationships, and movies.
In the end, he told Neila Devi that he wants her to come to his home with family members, and then he wants her to never leave. He directly proposed her for marriage.
After listening to this she first felt weird but the next day all her family members reached for lunch. There Prithviraj Kapoor asked for Neila’s hand from her father for Shammi.
On that day their marriage happened. This was a very humble wedding where mostly the closest friends were invited.
