Bill Withers (born July 4, 1938) was a famous veteran songwriter, musician, and singer from the United States of America. You might not know much about him if you are born after the ’90s but you elders definitely know about him. The fantastic singer has a lot of prestigious awards in his name which includes 3 Grammy Awards.

He is known for his famous songs like “Lean on Me”, “Let Us Love” and others. During his golden days, he released a lot of studio albums and most of them are hits. Mostly he worked for two labels named Sussex and Columbia.

On the 30th of March 2020, sad news came that unfortunately bill Withers died and left this world. The cause of his death is said to be some sort of cardiovascular disease. Withers has spent a lovely life of 81 years and he will always remain in the hearts of his fans.

Bill has seen a lot of ups and downs in his life as he was merely 13 years old when his father William Harrison Withers Sr. left this world. His mother Mattie Rose Withers solely brought him up. Originally Bill Withers belongs to Slab Fork, West Virginia where he took birth in 1938 on 4th July.

When he was 17 years old, he decided that he wants to join the US Navy where he served for a period of 9 years or we can say till the age of 26. We do not know much about his college studies as he joined the navy at 17 but we did know that he did his schooling in Beckley from a local high school.

In the year 1970, Bill Withers got signed by the owner of the Sussex records after seeing his talent but the deficiency of funds caused a delay in the release of the album as in 1971 his first album named “Just as I Am” got released.

The album became a huge success and for a song named “Ain’t No Sunshine” from this album, he won a Grammy award. His second wife also owns a publishing company. If we add all of his possessions his net worth amounts to $25 million.
