After the removal of Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir, Molly Abdullah’s husband Farooq Abdullah, who was detained under the PSA Act, got freedom from it on 13 March 2020. Farooq Abdullah said after his release from PSA that today I have no words. Today I am free.
If I get permission, I will go to Parliament and keep the voice of the people in Parliament. He further said that I thank all the MPs who fought for my release. Farooq Abdullah further said that other people should also be released.
This freedom is not complete until all our leaders are free. I hope the Indian government will take action to release all the people.
Jammu and Kashmir Chief Secretary (Planning) Rohit Kansal has informed that the government has issued orders to lift the ban on PSA Act over Farooq Abdullah. After the news of Farooq Abdullah’s removal from PSA, a large number of media are posted outside his house. Some of his supporters also reached outside the house which was chased by the police.
Dr. Abdullah was under house arrest from 15 September 2019 under the Public Safety Act (PSA). Explain that the special status of Jammu and Kashmir was withdrawn on 5 August 2019. Since the removal of Article 370 from here, many big leaders of the state including former Chief Ministers Mehbooba Mufti and Omar Abdullah have been placed under house arrest.
The government-issued order states that Farooq Abdullah was under the PSA Act for three months, till December. This was later extended by three months. Now that period is coming to an end in March, Farooq Abdullah will be released soon.
The National Conference has issued a statement saying that the release of NC Patron Farooq Abdullah from custody is ‘a step in the right direction to restore the real political process in Jammu and Kashmir’.
